The Island goes all out in the winter months, embracing holiday cheer with decorations all around town. You and your family are sure to find something fun to do throughout the end of November into early January, with special events planned to celebrate the holiday season!

Mistletoe Market: December 5 & 6, 2020

The 11th annual Mistletoe Market, known for its fine arts and gifts, will host 60+ accomplished artists and artisans. Expect a variety of pottery, jewelry, photography, woodworking and more. This is the perfect opportunity to support local and pick up a holiday gift for a loved one – and maybe even a special something for yourself. 10 am - 5 pm; Postell Park, Pier Village, St. Simons Island, GA

Holiday Hound Hike: December 5, 2020

Glynn Visual Arts will be hosting their local pooch parade. Expects dogs of all sizes and breeds dressed up in their holiday best. They will strut their stuff and show off their festive attire between Postell Park and the Pier. Sign up your dog in advance to participate, or just stop by and cheer along.  11:00 am start time; $10 registration fee for each pup

Hofwyl-Broadfield 40th Annual Christmas Tour: December 5, 2020

Enjoy a guided tour through centuries old live oaks on the 1850s plantation home, decorated just for Christmas. Watch history come alive with an infantry re-enactment, and discover what life was like with performers in period costume ready to share insights about the plantation’s past. This is perfect for any of you history buffs!

Christmas Lighthouse Trolly Tour

Ride on trolleys and buses with the Lighthouse Trolleys to see Christmas lights across the island. This is quite special as its operated by the Fendig family, whose relatives have been on the island since the mid-1800s. Sing along to Christmas Carols, listen to your favorite holiday tunes, and see all the decorations in the area. It’s 90-minute tour, with a surprise stop with Santa along the way! It may be chilly, so plan to bundle up and bring your own snacks and beverages for the ride. December 13-24 and 26-27; departs from St. Simons Fishing Pier


Holly Jolly Light Tours on Jekyll Island

The neighboring Jekyll island hosts over half a million lights during its annual Holly Jolly Light Tour. Its Great Tree is a sight to behold with over 35,000 lights alone! This is a perfect outing for all family members, and it will be a spectacular site to remember. November 27, 2020 to January 3, 2021; departs from Mosaic, the Jekyll Island Museum, Jekyll Island, GA 31527

Drive-In Screening of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”

The Jekyll Island Convention Center is also hosting a viewing of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” two Saturdays in December. Santa will be there, riding in style on a fire truck, with treats for the kiddos. December 12 and 19, 2020; Jekyll Island Convention Center Parking Lot 

There are a number of planned events to partake in on St. Simons island throughout the winter months. And beyond that, take the opportunity to stroll around, and appreciate the historic homes and feel of the Island. Pop over to the St. Simons Pier, located in Pier Village, to enjoy views overlooking St. Simons Sound, marvel at the working lighthouse, or soak in the sounds of the crashing waves. Whatever you opt for will be worthwhile and festive!
